Excerpt from the Patscheider Chronicle (written in 1988 by Mag.a Giselheid Patscheider-Riedmann):
The Schuchter family is an old Waliser lineage. "Waliser" refers to the Germans who settled along the upper Rhône and remained there since the year 900, whose surplus emigrated and at the turn of the 14th century moved via Vorarlberg into the Traisental to Ischgl and from there gradually also into the upper Inn valley. In one of the old houses with the open staircase leading to the elevated ground floor, the Schuchter bell forge was located for centuries, a craft with a legendary aura.
In our possession we still have this old memorial card of Josef and Magdalena Schuchter. The Mangweth are an old family from the Engadin.
It is said that Josef Schuchter fell into the raging Inn River during a mudslide; the barn that was torn down with him gave him support, and he was able to be rescued.
The couple had five children: Adelheid (note by the author: married Ferdinand S. Patscheider), Therese, Eduard, Josef and Anton. Josef, who continued the bell forge, married Hedwig Hanpolter, through whom our connection to the Hanpolter family in Salzburg originates. Anton was the father of Dean Oskar Schuchter, who was closely connected to our family.

Excerpt from a letter (1957) by Emil Schuchter to his cousin (Base) Giselheid Patscheider:
They (Josef and Maria Schuchter, note by the author) ran a small farm and a mostly well-functioning forge. They mainly produced bells, i.e. cowbells. This profession had been practiced by the Schuchter family long before and dates back to 1663 or even to 1559, always at the same homestead in Pfunds.

Comments by Wolfgang Patscheider on Emil Schuchter’s letter:
He writes here: „..., so your grandmother was the youngest sister of my father Josef Schuchter. ...”
He also writes: „Their parents were Josef Schuchter and Magdalena Mangweth, so they were your father’s grandparents as well as my and your paternal great-grandparents ...”
However, this means that he was mistaken about the cousin relationship; she was actually his second-degree niece!
This is also supported by his own drawing which he attached to the letter!

Comment:
The data from the "Ahnenpass" (ancestry certificate) are all credible, even though some of it was obviously added later.
The dates of death tell a probably tragic story: Maria survived her husband Josef by only one week.
