Comment:

The spelling of the name is Kostržicza and not, as it may appear at first glance by today’s standards, Kastržicza. In Kurrent script, the a is only indicated by a distinct downward stroke at the end of the letter, and that stroke is missing here. Furthermore, the birth registers clearly use an o.

The first name varies between Joannes and Johann. According to the birth registers, it is clearly Joannes. This is a Latin form of the first name Johannes. It is a historically very widespread variant that was frequently used as a baptismal name, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries.

According to experts, the place „Lasetio“ in the Troppau district refers to Mokré Lazce. Lazetio is the Latin place name form of Mokré Lazce (Mokrolasetz).

Kauthen is present-day „Kouty“, a district of „Kravaře ve Slezsku“ („Deutsch Krawarn“) in the Opava district.
