From the stories of my great-aunt Maria Vorderwinkler:
Theodor worked as a lathe operator at the Steyr works and lived at Wehrgrabengasse 35 in Steyr, Austria.
In May 1926, at the age of 24, he married Maria Winzer (later known as Aunt Mitzi) in Linz, Austria. However, their happiness was short-lived, as Theodor fell seriously ill with pulmonary and laryngeal tuberculosis in 1930. Despite his sister Maria reporting that it started with a harmless flu, Theodor had to wait nine months for a hospital bed in Steyr. He was later treated in Buchberg, where he already had a hole as big as an orange in his lung. He eventually passed away due to his severe suffering in the lung hospital in St. Anna (Steyr), still childless with Maria.
After the war, Maria Vorderwinkler (née WINZER) moved to Linz, where she worked in the administration of the Upper Austrian Regional Health Insurance Fund until she retired. Maria remained unmarried, traveled extensively both before and after retirement, and became a well-known tour guide at the adult education center in Linz.
Unfortunately, Maria spent her last months suffering from complete mental derangement in a nursing home in Bad-Hall, Austria. Theodor and Maria are buried at the urn cemetery in Steyr on Tabor, Austria.
